Lip Augmentation Before and After Photos
What is Lip Augmentation?
Lip augmentation is a non-surgical procedure that Dr. Chasan offers to enhance thin lips and give them a youthful, natural new look. With the availability of multiple fillers, including Juvederm, Restylane, and Silicone Oil, Dr. Chasan can create a fuller, plumper appearance to lips and reduce fine wrinkles around the mouth.
How is Lip Augmentation Performed?
Lip Augmentation is an outpatient procedure which is done within an hour. Dr. Chasan first covers the lips with a topical anesthetic and then performs lip augmentation through multiple injections of lip filler over certain areas of the lips. Our most popular lip fillers have lidocaine in them, minimizing the sensitivity of the injections. Most patients report very little to no pain involved with their lip injections.
Side effects and down time are typically minimal. Most of our patients can continue on with their daily schedule immediately following the procedure with very little bruising or swelling.
Which Lip Filler Should I Choose?
At the office of Paul E. Chasan, Ranch and Coast Plastic Surgery in Del Mar, we get a lot of patients concerned about choosing the right product for their lip augmentation. As a top San Diego Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Chasan is here to help you make the right decision to achieve your goals. Dr. Chasan has a wide depth of product knowledge and decades of experience at helping patients choose the best product for them. Below is a little information about our most popular lip filler products:
– Juvéderm and Restalyn are both FDA approved and both have the same main ingredient which is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin. As the lip filler wears off, it is naturally broken down and absorbed by the body. This typically takes about 6-12 months.
– Juvéderm is known to have a soft and natural look and feel. It spreads smoothly and evenly among lip tissue and is great at plumping the lips up overall.
– Restalyn is considered a slightly stiffer substance and is typically utilized when focusing on a certain area of the lip or lip borders.
– Silicone Oil is also used for lip augmentation and results can last for years. Silicone, however, is not absorbed by the body which is why results are so long lasting.
Is Lip Augmentation Reversible?
In most cases lip augmentation is easily reversible. Since Juvéderm and Restalyn are hyaluronic acid fillers, they can be more quickly absorbed by the body with an injection of and enzyme called hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase will help “deflate” lips quickly should the patient want.
Silicone Oil is more challenging to reverse. It typically requires the surgical removal of lip tissue. That being said, Dr. Chasan has a great track record of satisfied patients and the desire for reversal is extremely rare.
