Septoplasty is an internal reconstructive procedure performed to straighten or remove a portion of a deviated septum, which is the partition between the two nasal cavities. When damage to the nasal septum occurs, a deviated septum that is bent, broken, or damaged can cause headaches, poor breathing, and sleep apnea due to nasal blockage.

Septoplasty can correct breathing difficulties resulting from injuries caused from contact sports, falls, and other circumstances. It is not uncommon for cosmetic and functional procedures to be combined in a single operation, therefore both a Septoplasty and Rhinoplasty can be performed at the same time.

Recovery Time

For both Rhinoplasty and Septoplasty, general nose shape results should occur within 7-12 days as early as two weeks, but can take up to a year for full results, although this will vary by patient. Any bruising is usually gone in about ten days.
